What does Independence Day mean to you?Β
(Besides hot dogs and questionable fireworks safety, I mean.)Β
Quick disclaimer: Iβm not here to minimize the true meaning of Independence Day. IβllΒ
absolutely be raising a cold drink tomorrow in gratitude for my freedom. But today Iβm writing about a different kind of freedom β the kind thatshows up in our careers, our businesses, and yesβ¦ our websites.Β
And if youβre in a happy, thriving relationship with your website provider (especially if itβs us οΏ½οΏ½ ): Iβm thrilled for you!Β
May your load times be fast, your leads be qualified, and your CMS never demand admin rightslike itβs a hostage negotiation.Β
But if youβre not quite thereβ¦ read on.Β
I was chatting with a friend recently who said July 4 is his last day at his company. A new chapter. A transition. His own Independence Day. And that got me thinkingβ¦Β
Iβve had a few Independence Days of my own.Β
#1: Almost 17 years ago, I quit my job and launched Bright Pink from my spare bedroom armed with big dreams and zero business knowledge. It felt bold. It felt scary. It also felt like freedom.Β
#2: Couple years later β a long, expensive, soul-shrinking divorce. The judge gave me my freedom and my hard to spell last name back. (Thanks, Your Honor.)Β
Today, I asked my twin teens what their personal Independence Day was. They said June 3rd β the last day of middle school.Β
Freedom, baby! (Short-lived. High school starts in August.)Β
Now letβs talk about you and your website.Β
Because letβs be honest β some of you are in situationships with your website provider. https://mailchi.mp/brightpinkagency/website-independence-day 2/5

Subscribe Past Issues Translate Lately Iβve had discovery calls with franchisors who feel trapped.Β
Trapped in a website platform that no longer serves them.Β
Trapped in contracts they didnβt fully understand.Β
Trapped in a relationship that started off full of promise but turned into a oneΒ
sided struggle.Β
Sound familiar?Β
Maybe it was a platform that promised simplicity but delivered limitations. Or maybe it was a good system implemented poorly. Or maybe your agency ghosted you, forgot you existed, or βkindlyβ let you know they canβt support your growth anymore (yes, this happens).Β
Whatever the case, if your current website setup feels like a bad relationship, hereβs what I want you to know:Β
You can leave.Β
Yes, itβll take time and money.Β
No, it doesnβt have to be messy.Β
Yes, you deserve better.Β
You wonβt even need a lawyer. (Probably.)Β
You deserve your own Website Independence Day.Β
Transparency.Β
Flexibility.Β
A system that grows with you.Β
A partner whoβs invested in your success.Β
Weβve helped brands untangle from platforms that locked them in. Weβve gracefully transitioned websites from one provider to another β no drama, no resentment, just clean hand-offs and fresh starts.Β
So if your website (or your website provider) is no longer supporting your growth,Β
maybe itβs time to break up. Not every relationship is meant to last β especially if itβs holding you back.Β

So hereβs your permission slip:Β
Set your own Independence Day.Β
Circle it on the calendar.Β
Pop a bottle.Β
And then give us a call.Β
(After the 4th, of course. Go enjoy your holiday. Hug your people. Donβt light your ownΒ
fireworks unless youβve read the manual twice. Iβll be here Monday β hopefully with all ten fingers β ready to help you plan your next bold move, or just cheer you on if youβre already right where you need to be.)Β
Whether itβs the end of middle school, a new career path, a fresh start post-divorce, or a long-overdue change in website partners β freedom feels good.Β
Warmly,Β
